Top German manufacturer Meinl took heed, however, and developed a fantastic triangle that was made especially for situations that call for impressive volume and a rich, well-defined sound. The triangle: boring or trendy?

Together with the tambourine and the wood block, its popularity has been steadily declining over the last 100 years or so. Still, it's used a lot more often than you may realise. Many different genres employ the triangle as a supporting instrument. While many people consider it a dull instrument, if you've ever heard a great triangle player do their thing, you'll know there's nothing boring about it. That such a simple thing can be used to create the most driving and rhythmically diverse patterns is pure magic. As such, the difference between a good and a bad triangle players is just as big as it is between a good and a bad drummer, for instance.
